John Cook's Monthly Newsletter Report
Guyana Activity Report, John Cook, One-Way Evangelistic Ministries- Nov 15, 2010 - Jan 8, 2011
Greetings to everyone in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, and I thank you all for your faithful prayers and support. I am praying for you all.
The year 2010 brought bad news about Steven Sadik's family. We pray that Steven will find a good church and get himself involved.
I am continuing to conduct Steven's kid's prayer c1ass on Saturdays. The last time we met, we studied how sin hinders prayer using 1 John 3:21-23.
Happily, a boy we baptized about a year ago, volunteered to help with the kids' prayer class. His name is Kevin, age 15, and is from a Hindu home. He struggles with worldly attractions. I will continue with the instruction, and allow him to help with other aspects of the class. I am thanking the Lord for answering my prayers in this. Please pray for Kevin's focus on the Lord.
Jeneille completed teaching The Lamb (GoodSeed, IntI) at the Old Folks' Home, and her series of 12 weeks made a great impression on the 11 ladies there. I am most happy to report that Jeneille wants to continue Bible studies at the Old Folks' Home. So I gave her a series to look over entitled The Tabernacle (GoodSeed, Intl). She did so and is anxious to begin this Sunday after church. The sessions will run for 12 weeks. I am praising the Lord for this answer to prayer. All last week, I was praying for her because I was uncertain how she would take being rejected for a visa. Thankfully, her enthusiasm for serving the Lord is undaunted. She also told me that she has begun rereading through her Bible daily.
Our adult Bible study is in Daniel chapter 9, which we will complete Sunday morning. I will be preaching Sunday on Eph 5:22-33. Christian spouses should submit to and cherish one another because of 3 reasons: I) our Source (22-24), II) our Sanctifier (26, 27), and III) our Identity (23, 30-32) are Christ Jesus. This should be a fun sermon to preach! Ephesians is indeed a rich epistle. I am always thankful for the Lord's preserving His blessed word for us.
One of our single men (Bharrat, 32) has begun a chicken business here in the village. He began with 2,500 chicks, and has the same number in his 2nd crop. He sells them for meat and provides employment for others. So we are praying for his good success.
My reading students are coming back, and I have a request for another person and their child to begin, which I need to schedule in. My focus for the church in this New Year is on prayer.
In Christ,
Bro. John Cook One-Way Evangelistic Ministries
